Hi, I'm Arlette.
Yika was born from one of the most difficult seasons of my life.
In 2020, I became a mother to my son, Kol. Just two months after he was born, I lost my partner unexpectedly. At the same time, the world was in lockdown. Because of travel restrictions, I couldn't attend his funeral, and I couldn't lean on family and friends the way I needed to. Like so many new parents during that time, I found myself navigating grief, motherhood, exhaustion, and uncertainty largely on my own.
What I needed most was a village.
Not just someone to watch my child, but someone I could trust. Someone who would give me the space to rest, heal, work, cry, shower, drink a hot coffee, or simply catch my breath.
That experience inspired Yika.
Yika exists to connect families with trusted caregivers while recognizing that parents deserve support, too. Whether you're returning to work, running errands, needing a date night, recovering from a sleepless week, or simply wanting an hour for yourself, we're here to help.
Every caregiver on our platform is carefully vetted through identity verification, criminal background checks, and additional security measures because trust is everything when it comes to your children.
But Yika is about more than childcare.
It's about community. It's about creating the village that so many families are missing. It's about giving parents permission to ask for help and providing a safe, reliable way to find it.
YIKA connects families with trusted caregivers through technology that prioritizes safety, flexibility, and dignity — for children, parents, and the people who care for them.
